Every year in May, the Girona Temps de Flors is held, filling the city with plants and spectacular floral displays. Join us on this tailor made, once in a lifetime trip to the stunning Costa Brava in Spain. As well as Girona, visits to Barcelona, Blanes and Dali’s birthplace are also included. Our ‘adult only’ 4* hotel is based in the resort of Calella only 150 meters from the beach and close to the town centre.

Make our own way to our chosen UK airport for the flight to Barcelona where we will be met and transferred to our hotel in Calella.

At Leisure.
Time to relax and enjoy the facilities of our hotel and surroundings. Maybe walk around old town of Calella through cobbled alleyways with historical buildings or spend some time on the golden sandy beach.

Blanes and Botanical Gardens (half day).
Today we head to the stunning botanical gardens of Marimurtra which are situated on steep cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean. Discover tropical and subtropical plants and trees from all over the world before we travel into Blanes for lunch (not included) and free time. The fishing harbour is the central point of the town which also offers many shops, restaurants, cafes and bars.

Barcelona Sightseeing.
Starting with a panoramic city tour by coach we will see famous monuments and landmarks such as La Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s ‘Casa Milà’, Park Guell, Nou Camp Football Stadium, Castle Montjuic and the Magic Fountain of Montjuic. The afternoon will be free to explore Barcelona at our own pace but a stroll along the famous treelined Las Ramblas is a must.

At Leisure.
A further day to relax and enjoy the facilities of our hotel and the resort. There is the option to go back to Barcelona on the local train in just over an hour, or maybe take a boat trip along the coast.
Monday 12 May 2025
Girona Flower Festival and Dali Museum.
We will enjoy a guided walking tour of this walled medieval city with narrow streets, cobbled lanes and remarkable architecture before we visit the flower festival which we can explore at leisure. It is held in Barri Vell (old town) where buildings, monuments and courtyards are turned into unique ornamental gardens.
Displays, which are made by the locals, can also be found in the cathedral and churches. On the way back to the hotel, we will stop Figueres, Dali’s birthplace, to visit the Dali Theatre and Museum which is full of surrealist masterpieces. This was the first place where Dali’s work was displayed and he is buried in a crypt in the museum basement. (Note: 2025 Flower Festival dates to be confirmed.)

Santa Clotilde Gardens and Tossa de Mar.
These gardens in Lloret de Mar are beautifully located on a cliff with great views over the Costa Brava and home to typically mediterranean plants. After some time to explore the gardens we will head to Tossa de Mar for a walk in the old quarter and see its medieval castle.

Return to the UK.
Sadly, it’s time to leave Spain and transfer to Barcelona Airport for the flight back to the UK.
