Liverpool & the Beatles Story - The Fab Four and the City Where it Began

Some of the greatest musicians of the last century were born and raised in the North West’s music cities. But non have reached the heights of 4 scouse lads who changed the music scene forever. Liverpool was recently named the new UNESCO City of Music due to its musical heritage and the role music plays in the city’s culture and its economy. So why not celebrates the city’s rich musical history with A Magical Mystery Tour. So we've pulled together lots of ideas and inspiration for things to do in Liverpool to help you decide and plan your perfect itinerary.

The Beatles Story

Included in this fabulous package is the award-winning interactive exhibition, The Beatles Story. You will be taken on an atmospheric journey into the life, times, culture and music of The Fab Four. It reveals how four young lads from Liverpool were propelled to the dizzy heights of worldwide fame and fortune to become the greatest band of all time. As well as this why not see some of the several locations made famous by their association with the Beatles, including their former homes and schools, their favourite pubs and the places which inspired their songs, such as Strawberry Field and Penny Lane, the Albert Dock, the City centre and the famous Cavern Club.

British Music Experience

Why not also visit The British Music Experience. A museum dedicated to the history of popular music in Britain. State of the art effects and iconic memorabilia show how music has influenced the last 70 years of British culture. Located in Liverpool’s historic Cunard Building, visitors travel through eight interactive exhibitions on a trip through British music history against a social and political backdrop. Each exhibition explores different British music genres; starting in 1945 with rock and roll, then progressing to the Psychedelia of the 1960s, Glam rock and Punk of the 70s and 80s, before finishing with the Cool Britannia of the 90’s. Whatever your musical tastes may be, you’ll be sure to find something to ‘rock your world’.

The Royal Albert Dock

Iconic in style, immense in ambition. Liverpool’s docks dominated global trade in the 19th century, with the Albert Dock at their heart. Hence, to this day the Mersey continues to play a central role in the city’s cultural life, with the Dock an integral part of our World Heritage waterfront. Explore the lively heart of Liverpool’s historic waterfront. Maybe stroll around the lofty colonnades souvenir shopping, visit one of the galleries/museums or simply enjoy another coffee in one of the many dockside cafes.
