If you're looking for a short escape with stunning castles, exciting culture and delicious food and drink, then you've come to the right place. Kent is also home to a fantastic array of art galleries, elegant stately homes, romantic getaways, fun-filled family attractions, and more than 4,000 of exhilarating foot and cycle trails. Staying in the Mercure Tunbridge Wells, why not call into Royal Tunbridge Wells, the charming historic town that was a favourite of Queen Victoria. With so many attractions and places to visit, below are a just to name a few examples to wet your kentish appetite.

Chapel Down Winery

Chapel Down is one of Kent’s award winning sparkling wine producers, with rumours that their wine was served at Will’s and Kate’s wedding! Why not enjoy a tour of the vineyards and winery where we learn about the history of English wine, the vineyard cycle and the intricacies of the traditional method of sparkling wine production. To complete the experience we take part in a tutored tasting of their award-winning range of wines.

Historic Dockyard Chatham and ‘Call the Midwife’

Kent is the final frontier of the British Isles so why not visit the Historic Dockyard Chatham, an 80-acre site that was home to Britain’s naval ship building industry. During your visit you’ll discover how ships, including Nelson’s flagship ‘HMS Victory’, were designed and built and you’ll be able to climb aboard a destroyer and a submarine. The highlight of the visit will be the ‘Call the Midwife’ tour that reveals what it was like to be an extra on the set of the popular BBC series, and how the Dockyard was transformed into a scene from the 1950s.

Godinton House & Gardens

Visit to Godinton House & Gardens, a haven of peace and tranquillity whose owners treat visitors as ‘friends and family’. Tea and biscuits is followed by a one-hour guided tour of the house that unravels its 600 years of history and reveals a collection of furniture, art, porcelain and curios. Outside, a walled garden, rose garden, Italian garden, terraced lawns and herbaceous borders combine to offer a memorable visit.

The Battle of Britain Museum & Dover Castle

Why not visit the prestigious Batlle of Britain Musuem; the world's largest Battle of Britain collection of memorabilia, displaying Artefacts from over 700 crashed aircrafts.

This is the largest private museum in the world dedicated to the heroes of 1940, increasing the reputation has also grown over the years and around the world, and thus we now see visitors not only from our close neighbours such as France, Spain, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands etc. , but also from countries, such as Brazil, Mexico, Alaska, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Russia and many others. Why not also visit Dover Castle. Hidden beneath the imposing fortifications are a network of secret wartime tunnels. During WWII the castle’s historic tunnels were extended and used as a command centre where Winston Churchill oversaw the Battle of Britain.
