Set against the majestic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, the world-famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo takes place each August. The Scottish capital comes alive with a unique and unforgettable evening of music, ceremony, theatre and dance.
Edinburgh is a vibrant city and has many attractions and sights to discover. Visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s official residence in Scotland, or venture to see the Edinburgh Castle which dominates the skyline. Some may choose to make the most of the Edinburgh countryside, with picturesque gardens and parks. Whilst others may choose to hit the high street for a spot of retail therapy. Whatever your interest, Edinburgh is packed with activities for everyone’s taste!
Day 1
Travel to Scotland
Arrive at the Golden Lion Hotel, Stirling during the afternoon in time to relax before dinner.
Day 2
Edinburgh Tattoo
After breakfast, we relax before we head into Edinburgh around lunchtime. You will have ample time to get something to eat before making your way to the Castle for the start of a spectacular evening of entertainment. Note that the streets leading up to the Castle are cobbled and that there are steps leading to the Tattoo seating.
Set against the backdrop of Edinburgh's imposing castle, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is one of the most iconic events in Edinburgh's calendar. Bringing together audiences from across the globe, the Tattoo celebrates the skills and talents of military bands and display teams from across the globe. There are few such moving festival moments, a fact to which any of the over 220,000 people who experience it live in any normal year can attest - not to mention the further 100 million who watch television broadcasts of the event! At the end of the show, we make our way to the coach to return to the hotel late evening.

Conveniently located in Stirling city centre, this elegant family-owned hotel offers modern and comfortable rooms. Shops, bars and cafes are on the hotel doorstep, the magnificent Stirling Castle and William Wallace monument are just a few minutes uphill walk away. Hotel facilities include a traditional bar and a restaurant serving Scottish beef and lamb. All of the 67 rooms are individual in size and shape and feature. Several rooms are ideal for disabled guests. Free internet broadband is available in public areas and there is a lift which serves all five floors.
